When winter is here and my citrus trees are pretty plentiful, my garden shines with its bright orange and yellow colors.

The trees were planted back in 1977 by my late father in law. Grape fruit, tangerines, lemon, and seville oranges. I wanted to make use of each one so that there will be none wasted. Each of these fruits makes a delicious product, whether it be jam, jelly, juice, or extracts.

I started making marmalade as a tribute to my late grandmother who used to feel proud around her generation back then of her expertise in making jam from orange peel. Homemade marmalade is a charmingly old fashioned delicacy that can either be an elegant gift or stored in your pantry to be enjoyed with many recipes.

To the right is a photo of my late grandmother teta Wadiha,

Marmalade goes well with:

  • Toast and butter early in the morning
  • Orange cake as a glaze, giving it a kick
  • Cheese croissant
  • Grilled salmon baked in the oven
  • Leg of lamb garnished with rosemary
  • And nothing beats the last spoon in the jar straight into your mouth

My orange trees are unique, well taken care of, aged for many years, and handpicked one by one.

Essential tips:

  • Sterilize your jars meticulously
  • Make use of the zest
  • Juice it up

Stay connected to learn more about the above tips in details in my later posts
